Portable evaporative cooling is an entirely natural method of cooling that uses only air and water to cool air through the simple principle of evaporation of water.

Portable refrigerated air conditioners consist of a compressor, fan and heat exchange coil and use a refrigerant to cool the air.

Split systems have two separate units making up the system and use a refrigerant to cool the air.

How does it work?

Hot air is drawn into the cooler and passes through water-moistened pads or specifically designed cells.
Some of the water evaporates, absorbing the heat as it does so, and cools the air.
A fan then blows this beautifully cooled air throughout the room/house and forces hot air out through open windows and doors.

Consist of a compressor, fan and heat exchange coil.
The compressor compresses refrigerant gas into a liquid state to allow the refrigeration effect to take place, exactly the same way as does your home refrigerator.
The compressed gas is transferred to the heat exchange coil.

 

The fan draws air from inside the home through a filter and over the cooling coils. The air conditioner is controlled by a thermostat near the inlet filter.

 

Refrigerated split system air conditioners have two separate mechanical parts, an outdoor compressor and an indoor unit with fan and heat exchange coil.
The outdoor compressor unit compresses refrigerant gas into a liquid state to allow the refrigeration effect to take place, exactly the same way as does your home refrigerator.
The compressed gas is transferred into the indoor unit.
The fan is connected and then controlled by a room installed thermostat that draws the air from inside the home, passes it through a filter and then recirculates throughout your home approximately 10 times each hour.

Because the cool air is fresh, the hot moist air must be pushed out of the home, so windows or doors must be left open.
Portable evaporative coolers need to be placed near an open window/door, so they can draw the hot air into the cooler.
